Last night, the girl had a friend over for her first sleepover here in SoCar. So I suggested pulling out this chocolate melter (I had bought it after struggling with my cake-pop-making efforts and it was still in its box) for its first use ever:
Unfortunately, I had some limited color selections (I can't even remember why I needed green chocolate).
We used Halloween-themed molds, which felt a little off-season in early September in 92 degree weather.
But the girls were very game and gave it their best efforts:
With some pretty decent results, wouldn't you say?
The next morning for the girls' breakfast I pulled out this box of Cinnamon Streusel mix that I've had forever:
And I used it to make my first coffee cake in SoCar--which was also the girl's friend's first time of trying coffee cake. She said it was delicious.
And to top it off, I tried my hand at making hash browns myself with the help of some pre-shredded potatoes.
And they were pretty decent. I'll take it as a compliment that the girls wanted seconds. I still need to tweak the seasoning and getting a better crisp.
On the productive side, the kitchen boxes are unpacked and we've made a dent in the boxes of the painted rooms!

Good for you gals in keeping things in good spirits. I'm so happy Valina has a new friend already. I LOVE coffee cake. My first time having coffee cake was in elementary school. I remember thinking it was the best cake ever! It sounds so yummy right now with my cup of coffee. Maybe I'll have to buy a box for myself this week. Thanks for sweet-sharing! - Veronica

I didn't even know they made green chocolate. I agree with Pound. How are we friends?
