Sweet Sushi

I volunteered to contribute to the Teachers' Appreciation Breakfast so I signed up for cream cheese (for bagels, ostensibly) and to make a little dessert. I found this Sweet Sushi project in this month's FamilyFun magazine and Velina wanted to make them. With a poundcake, frosting, coconut, some fruit roll-ups, and a lot of Swedish fish, we made these:

And after 3 hours we had a nice platter to go:

Pretty sweet, huh?

Looks great, well thought out, clever, and well executed, but sorry, I can't get past this "Coconut shavings=fingernail clippings" thing I have.

The "seaweed" was green apple fruit roll-ups, pound cake w/frosting and coconut was the "rice" and swedish fish were, well, the fish.

Looking at the ingredients, this might be one of those things that's better to look at than eat it...
